Monthly Mostly......April 2014

Monday, 5 May 2014

Albeit it slightly late (I blame the bank holiday) here's what I've mostly been up to in April.

Writing my 200th Post
Wow! I've finally reached 200 posts. This particular post being 'it'. Not a massive milestone I admit, considering I've just moved into my third year of blogging, but I don't do this as a full time thing, and purely as a hobby. Aside from reading (if that counts as a hobby) it is probably the only hobby I've really managed to stick at - maybe because there's no pressure, no expectations and not so much commitment. Many things involve you doing something every week or on a far more regular basis, whereas blogging can be as infrequent as you please. It's a hobby that can be done at any time, day or night, it doesn't rely on other people, or the weather being OK (although it helps with lighting for photos) or specialist equipment. Here's to another 200 posts!

Reading
This month, aside from The Vintage Girl  this month, I've also read The Janus Stone by Elly Griffiths and Gently Does It by Alan Hunter. Not a bad month reading wise. I'm hoping to read another 25 books before the end of the year. Never too late for a reading challenge - I have a lot to read!

Keeping Secrets
There is a reason for the slight delay in April's post, as I've been holding a bit of a secret. I applied for an job which involves me acting up to a more senior level. A friend of mine applied at the same time. Unfortunately I wasn't successful and she was. Despite this I was given really good feedback, and  a bit of a wink and a nudge that another upcoming position recently advertised could well be mine, although I had clear instructions that I couldn't discuss this as it wasn't a foregone conclusion. After a rather up and down week emotionally in terms of how I felt bout myself and my capabilities, I was given the green light on Thursday, and I will now be working as a Team Manager as of, well tomorrow morning! Scary stuff!

Gluing Anything Not Already Stuck Down.
Have you ever used a glue gun? I hadn't until recently but I've become obsessed with the thing! I invested in one for all the various wedding crafts, and it's been critical in helping me make my bridal bouquet (work in progress as above), and now I keep adding to my already very long list of crafts, to find more reasons to glue gun things! It's becoming a bit of a problem!

Eating
Can Nutella do any wrong? If any of you have ever been to Slimming World, you may have heard of something called Scanbran. If you haven't, the best way to describe this stuff is like the SAS of Ryvita! Seriously, it's pretty unpalatable, but it is pure fibre. A sweep of Nutella and some strawberries on top, is getting me my chocolate fix, whilst feeling slightly less guilty at the same time.
